Sadly, this has happened to me. In the end, I let him think my name was Moonbeam just so he would go away. Worse, my being named Moonbeam was not enough of a deterrent.

I have actually done this before. I sat down in class one day and spent 10 minutes guessing this girl's name until I hit upon the correct one. I then proceeded to ask her out to lunch, and ended up dating her for like a month. Because apparently my bad memory was 'cute'.
