This made me smile right up until the end, when it made me oddly uncomfortable. It falls a little too close to stereotypes. The educated, interesting, curious boy-scientist who wants to explore the world and the charmingly naive, ignorant girl. It's too easy to point and laugh and say, oh ha ha, girls are so stupid! And I know that's not the intent of the strip either. But to someone, it's as unsettling as if the second character were a minority race.

I think the dialogue in the third panel is backwards. Red is the lowest frequency of light, while violet is the highest. Nanometers (nm) are a measure of wavelength while Hertz (s^-1 or Hz) are a measure of frequency. They are inversely proportional, so an octave higher than green would be about 250 nm. Also, the question of directional sound is an interesting one. In fact, higher pitches are more directional than lower ones, so low tones bend around corners easier than high ones.

Octave. With an 'a'. Otherwise, it made me smile :)
