Ok so. . . is the dad being a hypocrite and collecting Trek cards, or is the kid collecting Trek cards behind his back after the basketball cards fiasco?

I have 4 3inch 3 ring binders in my closet full of baseball cards I collected as a kid. Most aren't worth much, but I have a couple that are worth some money.

Ah, brings back memories of my pokemon card collecting days...

Maybe make it an ongoing once in a while thing so you don't have to keep making a new one every day.
